)11 Anoka County <br />ADMINISTRATION <br />Communications <br />October 26, 2023 <br />Contact: Erik Thorson, Communications Director, 763-324-4612, or e-mail: <br />Erik.Thorson@co.anoka.mn.us <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br />MMEO Receives 2023 Autism BrainNet Appreciation Award <br />The Anoka County Board of Commissioners recognized the Midwest Medical Examiner's <br />Office (MMEO) Oct. 24 for being the recipient of the 2023 Autism BrainNet Appreciation Award <br />from the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative. <br />The award recognizes Autism BrainNet's partners and collaborators for their dedication to <br />advancing an understanding of autism spectrum disorders and related neurodevelopmental <br />conditions. Autism BrainNet facilitates innovative, high -quality research on donated post-mortem <br />brain tissue to understand the biological causes of autism and related conditions. <br />"This is truly a special occasion as we recognize and celebrate an incredible partnership <br />that has been helping make a significant impact in the field of autism research," said Commissioner <br />Jeff Reinert, chair of the county's Intergovernmental and Community Relations Committee.
