Discuss potential <br /> environmental effects from accidental spills or releases of hazardous materials. Identify <br /> measures to avoid, minimize, or mitigate adverse effects from the use/storage of <br /> chemicals/hazardous materials including source reduction and recycling. Include <br /> development of a spill prevention plan. <br /> One 265-gallon underground storage tank and one 300-gallon aboveground storage tank <br /> were identified on-site during a 2022 survey. The underground storage tank is a heating oil <br /> tank located to the northeast of the existing single-family homes. The aboveground storage <br /> tank is a propane tank and is located to the northwest of the existing single-family homes. <br /> Based on the age of the 265-gallon heating oil underground storage tank (50+ years) and <br /> that it has been 24 years since the subsurface investigation was completed, there is an <br /> inherent risk of release and leakage associated with the tank. The 2022 survey recommended <br /> a Phase II Subsurface Investigation to assess potential impacts associated with the active <br /> 265-gallon tank. <br /> Any hazardous waste materials used/stored during construction and/or operation of the <br /> project will be disposed of in the manner specified by local or state regulation or by the <br /> manufacturer. A spill prevention plan will be developed, and proper spill prevention controls <br /> will be in place for any vehicle refueling or maintenance that occurs on site during <br /> construction. <br /> d. Project Related Generation/Storage of Hazardous Wastes— Describe hazardous wastes <br /> generated/stored during construction and/or operation of the project. Indicate method <br /> of disposal. Discuss potential environmental effects from hazardous waste handling, <br /> storage, and disposal. Identify measures to avoid, minimize, or mitigate adverse effects <br /> from the generation/storage of hazardous wastes including source reduction and <br /> recycling. <br /> Regulated material and/or waste will be managed in accordance with state requirements. No <br /> known toxic or hazardous wastes are anticipated to be generated on site. If any toxic or <br /> hazardous waste is generated on the site, it will be properly handled to current state and <br /> federal regulations. Toxic or hazardous wastes to be stored on site during construction will <br /> include fuel and oil necessary for maintaining and running heavy construction equipment <br /> and during operations may include commercial cleaning supplies. The MPCA regulates <br /> asbestos management activities and disposal activities. Any disposal of asbestos regulated <br /> waste will be in accordance with MPCA rules. <br /> 14.Fish, Wildlife, Plant Communities, and Sensitive Ecological Resources (Rare <br /> Features) <br /> a. Describe fish and wildlife resources as well as habitats and vegetation on or near the <br /> site. <br /> One DNR Public Watercourse, Rum River, is located within one mile of the site and is not <br /> classified as a trout stream.
