Absent: Commissioner Jensen. <br /> <br />NOTE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />The Planning Commission noted the following City Council meeting minutes: <br /> <br />1) City Council public hearing and regular meeting minutes dated November 24, 1998. <br /> <br />2) City Council regular meeting minutes dated November 10, 1998. <br /> <br />ORIENTATION SESSION <br /> <br />City Staff reviewed the operations and scope of the City's Community Development <br />Department, the role of the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment. The commissioners <br />requested copies of pertinent state statutes and the City Code table of contents. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case/ti: Research Item: Number Of Dogs Allowed On A Parcel Of Land: <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik informed the Commission that the City Code currently allows 2 <br />adult dogs per parcel of land; to have 3 or more dogs requires a conditional use permit for a <br />private or commercial kennel, as the case may be. In 1998, the City processed 3 applications for <br />conditional use permits for private kennels and it is believed that there are many more parcels in <br />violation of this ordinance. As a result, the City Council directed City Staff to research whether <br />or not the number of dogs allowed on a parcel should be increased, especially in the large lot, <br />rural areas. The results of that research reveal that in 11 of the surrounding communities, 2 to 3 <br />dogs are permitted per parcel without any special permits from the City. <br /> <br />Planning Commission/February 2, 1999 <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
