SECTION 10.86 <br />APPLICATIONS AND APPEALS <br /> <br /> Section 10.86.1. Form, Each application and appeal shall be in writing and shall <br />contain such information as hereinafter prescribed. <br /> <br /> Section 10.86.2. Application for Permission to Use Alternate Materials and Methods of <br />Construction. An application for permission to use alternate materials or methods of construction <br />shall first be submitted to the Building Official for his/her approval or denial and shah include: <br /> <br />(i) <br /> <br />The name and address of the applicant, and if the applicant is acting as agent for <br />another, the name and address of the person, finn, or corporation for whom the <br />applicant is agent. <br /> <br />(ii) A description of the type of building or structure and the work to be performed for <br /> which permission to use alternate materials or methods is requested. <br /> <br />(iii) A description of the use and occupancy of the building or structure. <br /> <br />(iv) A citation to the controlling section or sections of the Uniform Building Code which <br /> specify the materials or methods for which alternates are requested. <br /> <br />(v) A description of the alternate materials or methods of construction proposed to be <br /> used. <br /> <br />(vi) <br /> <br />If a test is required by the Building Official pursuant to Sections 106 and 107 of the <br />Building Code, a report from an approved agency which has tested the proposed <br />alternate materials or methods of construction. Such report shall include the findings, <br />conclusions, and recommendations, if any, of the approved agency. <br /> <br />The decision of the Building Official shall be in writing and shall be served upon the applicant by <br />mail. <br /> <br />An applicant who is dissatisfied with a decision of the Building Official may thereupon appeal to <br />the Board as hereinafter provided. <br /> <br /> Section 10.86.3. Application for Interpretation of the Building Code. Any person who <br />desires an interpretation of the Building Code shall first submit a written request for an <br />interpretation to the Building Official. Such request shall include: <br /> <br />(i) <br /> <br />The name and address of the applicant, and if the applicant is acting as agent for <br />another, the name and address of the person, firm or corporation for whom the <br />applicant is agent. <br /> <br />(ii) A description of the type of building or structure and the specific phase of the work to <br /> be performed which gives rise to the request for an interpretation. <br /> <br />(iii) A citation to the section or sections of the Building Code for which an interpretation is <br /> requested. <br /> <br />An applicant who is dissatisfied with an interpretation of the Building Official may thereupon <br />appeal to the Board as hereinafter provided. <br /> <br /> <br />
