AMENDMENT <br />Section 170.32 INTERPRETATION AND <br />SCOPE: 21. STREETS shall be amended to read <br />as follows: <br />a. Street is a public right.of-way affording <br />primary access bY pedestrians and vehicles <br />abutting properties, whether designated as a <br />street, hlghway~ thoroughfare, parkway, road, <br />avenue or however otherwise designated. <br />b. Colleclor street is a street which carries <br />traffic from minor streets to arterials. It in- <br />cludes the principal entrance streets of a <br />residential development and streets for cir. <br />culation within such a development. <br />C. Cul-de-sac is a street with only one outlet and <br />having an appropriate terminal for the safe a~d <br />convenient reversal of traffic movement. <br />d. Minor street Is a street used primarily for <br />access to the abutting properties and the local <br />needs of a neighborhood. <br />e. "Service street" "lane" or "road" is a <br />street which Is adlacent to a thoroughfare and <br />which provides access to abutting properties and <br />protection from through traffic. <br />f. Street width is the shortest distance between <br />the lot lines delineating the right-of-way of a <br />reel. <br />].,Minor a~;terial is a street primarily <br /> naiad to carry large volumes of traffic and <br />serves as an inlra.thoroughfare between various <br />districts of the City. <br />h. Meier arterial is a thoroughfare (infer- <br />community travel) which is a malor vehicle <br />transportation corridor throughout the region. <br />i. Urban streets are those streets _located <br />within the 2000 URBAN AREA and the URBAN <br />RESERVE AREA. <br />i. Rural streets are those, streets located out- <br />side the 2000 URBAN AREA or the URBAN <br />RESERVE AREA. <br />SECTION 170.038C STREETS shall be amen- <br />ded to read as follows: <br />.. 1. All right-of-way widths shall conform to the <br />f~flowing minimum al!mansions: <br /> Classification Right-of-Way <br /> Major Arterial 120 feet <br /> Minor Arterial 80 feet <br /> Collector (MSA) 80 feet <br /> Collector 66 feet <br /> Minor Rural 66 feet <br /> Minor Urban 60 feet <br /> Cul-de-sa'c Urban 60 feet radius <br /> Cul-de-sac Rural 65 feet radius <br /> Service 60 feet <br />Different widths may be required, depending <br />upon anticipated traffic volume, planned fun- <br />cti~n of street, and character of abutting land <br />use. <br /> The classification of street and determined <br />right-of-way width shall be determined by the <br />City Engineer. <br /> SECTION 2.
