I SIZING

1. The required soil treatment area shall be determined by number of
bedrooms for dwellings and definition of '~aterusage" for other
establishments.

2. The minimum soil treatment area required for any dwelling shall
provide for at least two (2) bedrooms.

3. The minimum soil treatment area required for multiple residential
units shall consist of the sum of the areas required for each individual unit.

4. Trench and bed size shall be at least as large as set forth in
Table II.

Table II

Percolation Per gallon
rate in of waste
minutes per day
per inch (c)

Beds

Required Soil Treatment Area in Square Feet
Per bedroom (a) (b)
Trenches
Depth of filter material below
distribution pipe (c) in inches

Faster than
1/2 (d)
1/2 to 5 (e)
6 to 15
16 to 30
31 to 45
46 to 60
Slower than
60

6 12 18 24

Special Soil Treatment Required. The filter material shall completely encase the
disposal pipes to a depth of at least two (2) inches.
Soil is unsuitable for standard system if percolation rate is
