-6- <br /> <br />150.01.4A SITE Lr~ALUAT ION <br /> <br />Ail proposed sites for individual sewage treatment systems shall be evaluated by <br />the Ramsey Plumbing Inspector in accordance with Chapter 170.04 (Soils) and <br />Chapter 170.03 (Subdivisions). <br /> <br />150.01.4B BUILDING SEWERS <br /> <br /> 1. The building sewer and all piping up to the point where the <br />disposal field soil treatment area begins shall be of watertight piping and <br />joints. Joints between this piping and other appurtenances of the system shall <br />be watertight. .The use of perforated pipe or its equivalent is prohibited. <br /> <br /> 2. No building drain or building sewer shall be less than four (4) <br />inches in diameter. <br /> <br /> 3. The buried or concealed portion of any building sewer, building <br />drain or branch thereof shall be located at least twenty (20) feet from any <br />well. That portion located less than fifty (50) feet from any well shall be <br />constructed of cast iron pipe with air tested joints. The air test should be <br />made by attaching an air compressor or test apparatus to a suitable opening and <br />closing all other inlets and outlets to the sewer and/or drain under test by <br />means of proper testing plugs. Air shall be forced into the system until there <br />is uniform pressure of five (5) pounds per square inch in the section being <br />tested. The system shall be considered satisfactorily air tested if the <br />pressure therein remains constant for fifteen (15) minutes without the addition <br />of air. <br /> <br /> 4. The portions of any buried sewer more than fifty (50) feet from a <br />well shall be constructed of material as approved by the State Plumbing Code. <br /> <br /> 5. Ail joints between pipes and fittings in the building sewer shall <br />have watertight and root-tight joints. Portland cement mortar joints shall not <br />be allowed. Lines shall provide a grade of not less than one-eighth (1/8) inch <br />per foot. Where building sewers exceed fifty (5o) feet in length, lines shall <br />provide a grade which will allow a flow velocity of not less than two (2) feet <br />per second. In no case shall the grade exceed two per cent (2.0%). All changes <br />of grade shall be by means of long sweep ells. Where long sweep ells are not <br />used and where the direction changes by more than twenty and one-half (20-1/2) <br />degrees, accessible watertight cleanouts shall be provided. <br /> <br />150.01.4C SEPTIC TANKS <br /> <br />Subd. 1 GENERAL <br /> <br />Ail tanks, regardless of material or method of construction, shall be: <br /> <br />de <br /> <br />One (1) piece, precast; <br />Watertight; <br />So designed and constructed as to withstand all lateral earth <br />pressures under saturated soil conditions with the tank <br />empty; <br />So designed and constructed as to withstand a minimum of <br />seven (7) feet of saturated earth cover above the tank top; <br />Not subject to excessive corrosion or decay. <br /> <br /> <br />
