1 (2) Ground -Mounted Systems <br />2 a. Ground -mounted solar energy systems shall be located on any property such that the <br />3 distance to the closest property boundary is at least equal to the height of the solar energy <br />4 system at its maximum designed tilt. <br />5 b. In residential districts, front, side, and rear yard setbacks for ground -mounted solar energy <br />6 systems shall be in accordance with accessory building setbacks. <br />7 c. In business districts, Ground -mounted solar energy systems may be permitted in any yard. <br />8 d. Glare. The panels of ground mounted solar energy systems shall be placed and arranged <br />9 such that reflected solar radiation or glare shall not be directed onto adjacent buildings, <br />10 properties or roadways. <br />11 e. Solar canopies over parking lots, loading areas, or outdoor storage areas are permitted to <br />12 have the same setbacks as the parking lot, loading area, or outdoor storage area below. <br />13 <br />14 (C) Feeder lines. The electrical collection system shall be placed underground within the interior of each <br />15 property. The collection system may be placed overhead near substations or points of interconnection <br />16 to the electric grid. <br />17 <br />18 333 Ground source heat pump systems/Geothermal Systems <br />19 In all districts, ground source heat pump systems shall be permitted as an accessory use in accordance with <br />20 the standards in this section. <br />21 (A) System requirements. Only closed loop ground source heat pump systems utilizing heat transfer fluids <br />22 are permitted. Open loop ground source heat pump systems are not permitted. <br />23 (B) Setbacks. <br />24 (1) All components of ground source heat pump systems including pumps, borings, and loops shall <br />25 be set back at least five feet from any property boundary. <br />26 (2) Above ground equipment associated with the ground source heat pump system shall meet all <br />27 required accessory structure setbacks for the applicable zoning district. <br />28 (3) The loop field of a ground source heat pump system shall be no closer than five feet from the <br />29 water main line. <br />30 <br />31 334 Exterior Solid Fuel -Fired Heating Devices <br />32 (A) Exterior solid fuel -fired heating devices shall be located at least 75 feet from any property line and <br />33 shall not be located in the front yard. <br />34 (B) The following materials shall not be used or burned in exterior solid fuel -fired heating devices: grass, <br />35 leaves, oils, rubber, plastics, tires, railroad ties, construction debris, and painted or chemically treated <br />36 materials such as treated lumber, composite shingles, tar paper, insulation composition board, <br />37 sheetrock, wiring, paint, and hazardous and industrial solid waste. <br />38 <br />39 335 Incinerators <br />40 Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this chapter, no burning of solid waste, hazardous waste, <br />41 medical waste, or special waste by use of an incinerator or hazardous waste incinerator shall be allowed <br />42 within the city either as a permitted use or conditional use. <br />43 <br />44 336 Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations <br />45 (A) A property owner may install EV charging stations in a parking space in a parking lot or structure <br />46 available to the public for free or for a fee. <br />47 (B) Parking spaces used for EV charging will count towards the overall required number of spaces listed <br />48 elsewhere in this chapter. <br />49 <br />50 337-349 Reserved. <br />51 <br />52 350 Tree Preservation <br />Attachment A — Ordinance #23-14 <br />Page 38 of 141 <br />
