Weekly UPDATE <br />Administrator's Report December 15, 2023 <br />Council Update <br />Recycle Excess Cardboard Boxes <br />Around the holidays, <br />it seems as though many <br />of us end up with lots of <br />extra cardboard boxes that <br />won't necessarily fit in the <br />curbside recycling cart. <br />Well, we've got you covered! <br />From December 11 until <br />January 19, 2024, two <br />dumpsters will be available for <br />residents to recycle all those <br />extra cardboard boxes. The <br />dumpsters will be at the old <br />Public Works campus, 14100 <br />Jasper Street NW. Please flatten all boxes to help conserve <br />space in the dumpsters. These dumpsters are for cardboard <br />and other recyclable paper only. <br />Holiday Lights Recycling <br />The Ramsey Municipal <br />Center will again serve as a <br />drop-offlocation for recycling <br />holiday lights, extension, <br />telephone and appliance cords. <br />They can be dropped off at <br />the Ramsey Municipal Center <br />(7550 Sunwood Drive NW) <br />during regular business hours, <br />Monday through Friday, 8:00 <br />am to 4:30 pm, beginning <br />December 1 until the end of <br />January 2024. <br />A collection cart will be in the main lobby of the building. <br />There is no cost to residents for this service. Please DO <br />NOT put strands of holiday lights in your recycling cart. <br />They are not accepted as a material through the curbside <br />recycling program, as they cause a lot of issues at the <br />materials recovery facilities. If light strands are mounted <br />on plastic `framing' (used to form shapes such as snowmen, <br />stars, etc.), the plastic framing must be removed and <br />disposed of in your garbage. <br />City of #1,< <br />RAMSEY <br />We're Hiring! <br />Mechanic - Full -Time <br />Salary: $28.10 - $35.13 Hourly <br />Closing Date: January 7, 2024, 11:59 pm <br />Primary Objective of Position: to perform skilled <br />mechanical services including, but not limited to, <br />automobiles, squad cars, heavy and light duty equipment <br />and other City -owned vehicles and equipment. This <br />position requires mechanical aptitude, good time <br />management and organizational skills, as well as the ability <br />to lift up to 74 pounds without assistance. <br />Daily operations include coordination and performance <br />of all maintenance repairs on City -owned vehicles and <br />equipment (electric, gas and diesel). The mechanic will <br />ensure timely completion of all maintenance and repair <br />projects; manage the recordkeeping for all shop activities <br />and assist with administrative duties related to the shop <br />budget, parts and supplies inventory. <br />This position is subject to extended workdays, call backs <br />and shift schedules as required for the City's maintenance <br />operations which includes, but is not limited to, snow <br />plowing of public streets, trails and walks. The position <br />reports to the Street Supervisor.
