5. 2. <br />Public Works Committee <br />Meeting Date: 01/16/2024 <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Connect the community through Parks, Trails and Recreational Programming. <br />Title: <br />Recommend Trail Gap Construction, a 2024 Capital Improvement Project <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case, is to proceed with the project development for a 2024 Capital Improvement Project, <br />specifically the approximate 1,000' foot trail east of T.H. #47, south of the Holiday gas station and north of 142nd <br />Avenue. <br />Time Frame/Observations/Alternatives: <br />Five minutes may be required to highlight the background on this proposed capital improvement, including the <br />expected action by the Park & Recreation Commission on January 11 th, 2024. <br />Funding Source: <br />Funding is proposed to be from the Park Trust Fund, which has a present balance of $7.4M. Approving the funds <br />would be a City Council consideration, later in 2024. <br />Recommendation: <br />The Park & Recreation Commission and Staff recommend proceeding to obtain bids for the T.H.#47 Trail gap. <br />Outcome/Action: <br />Motion to recommend to City Council the authorization of a Topographic Survey and subsequent preparation of <br />Plans and Specifications and authorization to obtain bids forT.
