5. 4. <br /> CC Regular Session <br /> Meeting Date: 01/23/2024 <br /> Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Strive for high organizational morale and employee retention <br /> Information <br /> Title <br /> Authorization to Hire Public Works Streets Maintenance Workers <br /> Purpose/Background: <br /> The purpose of this case is to request authorization to hire two full-time Streets Maintenance Workers. These <br /> positions were reviewed during the 2024 budget discussions and have been accounted for in the 2024 budget. <br /> Staff conducted a recruitment and interview process to fill the openings. Staff selected Mr. Landon Dowd-Sivigny <br /> and Mr. Joshua Rock as the top candidates. They both underwent and passed the City's pre-employment testing <br /> process, including a criminal background check,professional reference check, driving record check and <br /> employment verification, as well as a physical exam and drug screen. The City extended job offers to both <br /> candidates which are contingent upon City Council approval. Staff is recommending both candidates be hired as <br /> full-time Streets Maintenance Workers. They will be sub.ect to a 6-month probationary period and all Personnel <br /> Policies and/or employment contracts will apply. <br /> The Streets Maintenance Worker position is responsible for constructing and maintaining streets,parking lots and <br /> related property; performing snow-related activities; general maintenance activities; general labor; vehicle and <br /> motorized equipment maintenance; assisting with landscape, grounds care, and forestry/naturalist activities; <br /> assistance with preparation of community events; mechanical building maintenance and repair; as well as a wide <br /> range of other tasks as required. In addition,the Streets Maintenance Worker is required to be a member of the <br /> Public Works on-call team and work a rotating on-call schedule 8 weeks per year. This requires employees to be <br /> available to respond during evenings,weekends and holidays. <br /> Funding Source: <br /> The funding required for these positions is included in the 2024 budget. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> To hire the following new Public Works Streets Maintenance Workers: <br /> 1) Mr. Landon Dowd-Sivigny, effective on Monday,February 12, 2024, at$27.184 per hour,which is step 1 of <br /> the 2024 wage scale, and <br /> 2) Mr. Joshua Rock, effective on Monday, February 12,2024, at$27.184 per hour,which is step 1 of the 2024 <br /> wage scale. <br /> Action: <br /> Motion to authorize hiring the following new Public Works Streets Maintenance Workers: <br /> 1) Mr. Landon Dowd-Sivigny, effective on Monday,February 12, 2024, at$27.184 per hour,which is step 1 of <br /> the 2024 wage scale, and <br /> 2) Mr. Joshua Rock, effective on Monday, February 12,2024, at$27.184 per hour,which is step 1 of the 2024 <br /> wage scale. <br />
