Councilmember Zimmerman questioned if they have street I.D signs in the development. <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Riemer explained the location of the street I.D. signs. <br /> <br />Consensus was reached by the Committee to install blue street I.D. signs for private roads. <br /> <br />Councilmember Connolly stated that the City should not be involved with plowing private roads. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Kapler presented pictures of the development to the Committee. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that the Association probably currently has a bad contractor <br />and doesn't receive good services, but does not feel the City can help them out due to the current <br />equipment available and the fact that the City would be plowing private property. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Zimmerman, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to recommend to <br />the City Council that the City does not get involved with plowing private property. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmember Zimmerman, and Councilmember Hendriksen, <br />and Connolly. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Chairperson Zimmerman, to recommend to <br />City Council that they City change the color of street I.D. signs for private roads to blue and that <br />the City incur the costs of the signs. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmember Zimmerman, and Councilmember Hendriksen, <br />and Connolly. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Director of Pubic Works Kapler noted that he will contact Mr. Mudge to inform him that the <br />issue will be discussed with City Council. <br /> <br />Case #2: Winter Trail Maintenance <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Riemer stated that in the past several years, the Public Works <br />Department has received requests to clear parts of the trail system to allow for winter use. He <br />explained that staff is proposing to accomplish the task in-house, using the City's equipment and <br />personnel. This would be the first season of incorporating trail plowing, so they would be <br />experimenting with different methods and equipment. This year the Public Works Department <br />added a 67" snow blower for the skidsteer, and an additional one-ton truck. Both pieces of <br />equipment would be used in winter trail maintenance. The trails would receive low priority in <br />the overall snow removal program. Streets and municipal parking lots would receive first <br />priority, followed by skating rinks, and then trails. Trails would not receive attention until one to <br />two days following the storm, depending on the amount of clean-up required on the streets.
