Mr. Peterson answered the organic aspects would not be addressed in the project.

Environmental Specialist Bacon noted that groundwater surveys had been done. He
recommended a special exhibit the Bell Museum was sponsoring called Bioblitz that was
now located at Cleveland Avenue and Larpenteur Avenue. Specialists were on hand to
identify and provide a rapid assessment ora given area.

Motion by Board Member Freeburg and seconded by Board Member Hustvedt to
conclude discussion of Case# 1 and move to Case #2.

Motion carried. He noted that all the members of the
EPB were there, except for Board Member Max.

Board Member Max mentioned it was the first Environmental Expo he did not attend in
about 18 years.

Environmental Specialist Bacon stated there was considerable diversity in the indoor
portion. He distributed pop-up calendars to those who wanted one. At the Expo, there
were hand outs concerning Integrated Pest Management. He indicated it was a successful
indoor event, but the tree sale needed more publicity.

Board Member Max reminded the Board when the event was solely a tree sale. He
offered it could be made into two separate but connected events.

Environmental Specialist Bacon stated it needed promotion if it would be made beneficial
to vendors.

Chairperson McDilda noted he was surprised at the numbers of attendees. In previous
years, the numbers of indoor to outdoor attendees were the inverse. The ratio was
dependent on the weather. He recommended having the entire event outside using
overhangs if there was inclement weather.

Board Member Max recommended having several break out sessions inside.

Coordinator Anderson stated that in coming years, it would be helpful for the EPB to
become more involved in the planning of the Expo. Second, are there possible topics for
break out sessions based on responses from the sign-up sheets?

Environmental Policy Board / May 1, 2006
