Norman
Community Development director Cindy Sherman
Finance Officer Diana Lund
Director of Public Works Dean Kapler
Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik
City Attorney William Goodrich

CALL TO ORDER

Councilmember Zimmerman called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at
7:02 and called upon Councilmember Hendriksen to lead in the Pledge of Allegiance to
the Flag.

CITIZEN INPUT

Wayne Jeffries, 15921 Kamacite Street NW, Ramsey, stated that he is a resident and
business owner in Ramsey. He owns the Ramsey Pharmacy off 153rd and T.H. #47. He
stated he is back to ask for input and direction on the signage issue on that corner. At this
point, there is a sign for the medical clinic, pharmacy and the dental clinic. Mr. Jeffries
understood that with the Superette being constructed in that area, that they (the clinics
and the pharmacy) would not be able to have a sign in the same place. Mr. Jeffries stated
that he bought the pharmacy in 1980, put up a wooden sign in 1983, and in 1985, the
metal sign was built. The City's ordinance states that you cannot have a sign on a parcel
you do not own. The Superette store would get to have the sign in that area. He is
concerned about that and has asked City staff what his options are, however, it doesn't
appear there are too many at this point. He asked for direction.

Councilmember Haas Steffen stated that Council and staff have talked about this problem
and it will be a topic of discussion at the February 1, 1999 Council work session. She
invited Mr. Jeffries to attend the discussion.

City Council/January 26, 1999
