CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a special meeting on Tuesday, August 10, <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Susan E. Anderson <br />Councilmember Margaret Connolly <br />Councilmember Terry Hendricksen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Community Development Director Cindy Sherman <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />Community Development Assistant Sean Walther <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />1999, at the <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the special meeting of the City Council to order at 5:35 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Meeting with the Metropolitan Council to discuss Ramsey's Comprehensive <br />Plan <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec explained that the reason for this meeting is to get clarification from the <br />Metropolitan Council on their requirements for the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />John Kari, Metropolitan Council, gave a presentation to the Ramsey City Council reviewing the <br />regional growth strategy, housing trends since 1960, school enrollment and the need to <br />accommodate the growing number of school age children moving into the area as related to the <br />local Comprehensive Plan. Mr. Kari reviewed developments of neighboring cities and explained <br />that it is the preference of the Metropolitan Council to maintain a density of 3.0 units per acre. <br />He explained that mixed residential is going to be important for the long term. <br /> <br />Sandra Pinel, Metropolitan Council, stated that it is important for the City and the Metropolitan <br />Council to work together on creating a plan for the future.
