Councilmember Zimmerman introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #01 -08 -261 <br />RESOLUTION REJECTING BIDS FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK <br />GRANT PEDESTRIAN RAMP PROJECT. <br />WHEREAS, on March 27, 2000, the City of Ramsey applied for Community Development <br />Block Grant funding to replace `B' style and surmountable concrete curbs with ADA compliant <br />pedestrian ramps at select intersections of City trails and streets; and <br />WHEREAS, on July 13, 2001, an Advertisement for Bids was printed in the Anoka County <br />Union and the Construction Bulletin outlining the project for fourteen pedestrian ramps; and <br />WHEREAS, on July 25, 2001, bids were opened at City Hall and one bid was received <br />from Thomas and Sons Construction Inc; and <br />WHEREAS, said bid was approximately 460% above the $8,634.00 allocated for the <br />project <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, that: <br />1. The City Council hereby rejects the bid from Thomas and Sons Construction Inc. due to it's <br />excessive nature. <br />2. The City Council orders staff to redefine the scope and specifications of the CDBG pedestrian <br />ramp project and readvertise for bids. <br />The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Kurak, <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br />Councilmember Kurak <br />Councilmember Anderson <br />Councilmember Hendriksen <br />And the following voted against the same: <br />None <br />And the following abstained: <br />None <br />And the following were absent: <br />None <br />
