5. 7. <br /> CC Regular Session <br /> Meeting Date: 03/12/2024 <br /> Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Strive for high organizational morale and employee retention <br /> Information <br /> Title <br /> Authorization to Hire a Rental Housing Inspector <br /> Purpose/Background: <br /> The purpose of this case is to request authorization to hire a full-time Rental Housing Inspector.This new position was <br /> reviewed during the 2024 budget discussions and is accounted for in the 2024 budget. <br /> Staff conducted a recruitment and interview process to fill the opening.This process included an internal and external open <br /> competitive recruitment. Staff conducted nine first interviews followed by three second interviews. There were thirteen <br /> applicants that did not meet the position's minimum qualifications. <br /> Staff selected Ms. Dana Verbeek as the top candidate.The City extended a job offer to Ms.Verbeek which is contingent <br /> upon City Council approval. Ms.Verbeek will be subject to a 6-month probationary period and all Personnel Policies and/or <br /> employment contracts will apply. <br /> The primary objective of this position is to coordinate the City's rental licensing program and to perform rental housing and <br /> property maintenance enforcement activities. <br /> Hiring Ms.Verbeek to the position of Rental Housing Inspector will leave a vacancy in the Planning Division; Ms.Verbeek is <br /> currently working as a Planning Division Administrative Assistant.
