a much mom economical solution to allow the water to come over once in 100 years. Mayor
Gamec inquired about raising the road with a culvert put in beneath it. Public Works Director
Olson replied staff is confident the roads do not need to be raised.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Olson, Jeffrey, Pearson,
and Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Cook.

Committee/Staff Input

Public Works Director Olson reported Mayor Garnet had questions regarding the dewatering of
the creek. The Committee was informed that there was a bit of an issue with the deep sewer
project. This issue will be discussed at the next Committee meeting. The first indication had
been that there would be a change order of approximately $80,000; however, that cost has been
reduced to $28,000 with hopes of it being reduced further before the next Committee meeting.
The pipe was realigned and there was some down time that has been negotiated with the
contractor.

MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT

Mayor Gamec announced the following:
· Lions Picnic on June 3 at Central Park.
· County Commissioner Dennis Berg was recognized last night at the joint celebration with
the City of Anoka regarding the parking facility funds granted to both cities.
· Northstar has reached an agreement with Burlington Northern. This has been the big
stumbling block, and the agreement puts the project in much better shape. The trains
should be running by 2009, and the City of Ramsey hopes to have their bus service
running by this fall.

Councilmember Jeffrey announced registration forms for Safety Camp are available on the City
website.

Councilmember Strommen announced the Environmental Expo and Tree Sale was successful.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Councilmember Olson, seconded by Councilmember Pearson, to adjourn the meeting.
Motion carried.

The regular meeting of the City Council adjourned at 9:54 p.m.

City Council / May 9, 2006
