Anoka County <br /> ADMINISTRATION <br /> ,,�& Communications <br /> March 20, 2024 <br /> Contact: Erik Thorson, Communications Director, 763-324-4612, or e-mail: <br /> Erik.Thorsonkanokacoun . mn._ov <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> Anoka County Seeking Members to Join Opioid Advisory Council <br /> As part of the National Opioids Settlement,Anoka County anticipates receiving <br /> approximately $18 million in disbursements over the next 18 years these funds will be used to <br /> address the opioid crisis and prevent opioid deaths in the community. <br /> To manage this funding and respond to the misuse of opioids in Anoka County, the <br /> Anoka County Opioid Solutions Initiative (ACOSI)has been established. Community <br /> engagement with this effort is essential, and this is why the county is seeking members to join <br /> the ACOSI Advisory Council. Anoka County is looking for people with lived experience and <br /> professionals from organizations throughout the community to ensure equitable representation <br /> and a voice in the opioid response. <br /> Professionals and those with lived experience can apply at <br /> www.anokacountymn.gov/ACOSIto be considered to be a part of the advisory council. <br /> "The mission of the Anoka County Opioid Solutions Initiative is to improve health, save <br /> lives, and reduce the impact caused by opioids and other substances in Anoka County by <br /> managing opioid settlement funding and supporting strategic partnerships," said Mike Gamache, <br /> chair, Anoka County Board of Commissioners. "For this initiative to be successful, we really <br /> need the community to be involved.
