7. 3. <br /> CC Regular Session <br /> Meeting Date: 04/09/2024 <br /> PrimaryStrategic Plan Initiative: Create a positive image for residential neighborhoods,business districts and key <br /> g corridors. <br /> Information <br /> Title: <br /> Adopt Ordinance#24-05, An Ordinance Amending Ordinance#23-09, An Interim Ordinance Prohibiting the <br /> Establishment of New Uses or the Operation of an Adult-Use Cannabis Business Related to the Sales, Testing, <br /> Manufacturing and Distribution of Real THC Products <br /> Purpose/Background: <br /> On March 26, 2024, a public hearing was held at the City Council meeting to introduce Ordinance#24-05. There <br /> were no public comments. <br /> Ordinance#24-05 prohibits the establishment of new uses or the operation of adult-use cannabis businesses <br /> related to the sales, testing, manufacturing and distribution of real THC products until January 1, 2025. For the <br /> remainder of 2024, city staff will be working with the Office of Cannabis Management(the Office)to develop <br /> ordinances,processes and forms needed prior to the issuance of adult-use cannabis licenses and registrations. At <br /> this time,the Office estimates the first adult-use cannabis licenses can be applied for on January 1, 2025. <br /> Notification: <br /> Notification is not required for the adoption of the ordinance. <br /> Time Frame/Observations/Alternatives: <br /> Once the interim use ordinance is adopted, it will remain in effect until January 1, 2025, or until the City Council <br /> determines proper regulations are in place for the sale of adult-use cannabis,whichever comes first. <br /> Alternatives Include: <br /> 1. Adopt Ordinance#24-5 as presented; <br /> 2. Adopt Ordinance#24-05 with modifications; <br /> 3. Table the adoption for more discussion at a work session; or <br /> 4.
