She also <br />noted that the Town Center Task Force has an open forum on the fourth Thursday of every <br />month from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. They are looking to collect as much information as possible to <br />make good sound decisions. <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon inquired as to whom staff should work with on writing the town <br />center regulations. <br />Councilmember Kurak felt that it would be more timely to have the Town Center Task Force <br />begin the process and then bring it forward to the Planning Commission and City Council. <br />The majority consensus was to initiate the process with Town Center Task Force and then bring <br />the suggestions forward to the Planning Commission and City Council. <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that they need to make sure that the communication continues <br />between the groups. <br />Mr. Elvig recommended having someone from the Planning Commission and City Council attend <br />the Town Center Task Force meeting periodically to be involved in the process <br />Councilmember Hendriksen noted that the Town Center Task Force meeting does not show up on <br />their weekly update and requested that be done. He also noted that the Council does not receive <br />a copy of their agendas. He stated that if the Town Center Task Force is going to take on more <br />responsibilities, then it needs to be done in a more formal way. <br />Mr. Elvig agreed. <br />2) Residential Zoning Issues. <br />Mr. Gordon explained that the Committee had discussed the issue of mother-in-law apartments at <br />the previous meeting. He presented an ordinance that had been written in 1995, but was never <br />adopted. He explained that the ordinance would not allow accessory apartments above garages. <br />He also presented an ordinance from Chaska that states accessory apartments can only occur over <br />detached structures. Mr. Gordon noted that he was very comfortable with the 1995 ordinance, <br />but if the Committee was not comfortable with either ordinance presented they could continue <br />work on the issue after the public hearing. <br />Councilmember Kurak inquired if they were uncomfortable at this time to make a decision and <br />after the public hearing they can't come terms can they eliminate it. <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon replied yes. <br />Councilmember Hendriksen expressed concern that they will have one single family zoning district <br />and apply it to all areas of the City.
