5. 2.
Park and Recreation Commission
Meeting Date: 05/09/2024
Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Identify and implement operational efficiencies, cost savings and additional
funding sources.
Information
Title:
Consider Alpine Park for a Municipal Sand and Fill Stockpile Location
Purpose/Background:
Background
The primary need for the stockpile location is to hold clean sand or fill as it becomes available,to have on hand
for future projects requiring fill. As an example, the city will be generating some excess sand with this year's
street reconstruction projects, and at present do not have an identified place for it.
Engineering staffs proposal is to build a berm around the stockpile,to act as erosion control (see attachment).
This would be made up of excess topsoil, including some of the material at the corner of Center Street and
Ramsey Parkway.
Purpose
The purpose of this case is for the Commission to respond to the stockpiling proposal, as it relates to an
acceptable interim use for the western portion of Alpine Park. More information will be available at the meeting.
Funding Source:
There are no direct park related costs to this proposal.
Recommendation:
Outcome/Action:
Determine a consensus reaction to stockpiling clean fill near the skate park at Alpine Park, and if appropriate,
identify related next steps.
Attachments
Stockpile exhibit
Form Review
Inbox Reviewed By Date
Bruce Westby Mariah Albrecht 05/03/2024 03:30 PM
Brian Hagen Mariah Albrecht 05/03/2024 03:31 PM
Form Started By:Mark Riverblood Started On:05/02/2024 12:01 PM
Final Approval Date:05/03/2024
