5. 9. <br /> CC Regular Session <br /> Meeting Date: 05/14/2024 <br /> Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Strive for high organizational morale and employee retention <br /> Information <br /> Title: <br /> Authorization to Hire a Building Maintenance Worker <br /> Purpose/Background: <br /> The purpose of this case is to request the City Council's authorization to hire two full-time Building Maintenance <br /> Workers. <br /> Both positions were vacated due to the employees departing the City of Ramsey. An internal and external <br /> recruitment was conducted and Mr. John Bromen and Mr. Matt Nelson were selected as the top candidates for the <br /> positions. Staff completed the necessary background checks and are recommending that Mr. Bromen and Mr. <br /> Nelson be hired as both full-time Building Maintenance Workers. <br /> With the City Council's authorization, John Bromen and Matt Nelson will begin as the City's new full-time <br /> Building Maintenance Workers on or near May 29, and May 30, respectively. As with all City employees <br /> recognized by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME)bargaining unit, <br /> they will serve a six-month probationary period and will be subject to the City's Personnel Policy and the <br /> AFSCME Labor Agreement. <br /> The primary objectives of this position are to assist in maintaining city facilities including,but not limited to <br /> buildings, offices,meeting rooms,HVAC equipment and grounds of the Ramsey Municipal Center,both Fire <br /> Stations, City Parks, Public Works facility and the Municipal Parking Facility, as well as assist with elections <br /> set-up and take-down. <br /> Funding Source: <br /> The funding required for this position is included in the 2024 budget. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> 1) To hire John Bromen as a full-time Building Maintenance Worker, effective on or near May 29,2024, at <br /> $23.839 per hour,which is step 2 of the 2024 wage scale; and <br /> 2) To hire Matt Nelson as a full-time Building Maintenance Worker, effective on or near May 30, 2024, at <br /> $22.70 per hour,which is step 1 of the 2024 wage scale. <br /> Outcome/Action: <br /> Authorize Hiring of- 1)John Bromen as a full-time Building Maintenance Worker, effective on or near May 29, <br /> 2024, at$23.839 per hour,which is step 2 of the 2024 wage scale; and <br /> 2) Matt Nelson as a full-time Building Maintenance Worker, effective on or near May 30, 2024, at$22.70 per <br /> hour,which is step 1 of the 2024 wage scale. <br />
