Gov <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br />Anoka County Offices Closed June 19 in Recognition of Juneteenth <br />All Anoka County Offices will be closed Wednesday, June 19, in recognition of the <br />Juneteenth holiday. <br />Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United <br />States, marking the day when news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached the final group of <br />enslaved people in the states of Texas June 19, 1865. More than 250,000 individuals were declared <br />free that day, two months after the Civil War ended and two years after the Emancipation <br />Proclamation was issued. <br />Minnesota Gov.
