3. Inspection Schedule Changes
Changes to the Inspection schedule should not generally be made after 8am of the
business day. If changes are needed after that, or if same day inspections are
necessary, inspectors will be contacted by text or phone as soon as possible to
confirm they are aware of any inspection schedule changes. The field inspector is
requested to respond as soon as possible to the message (phone or text) so the
person initiating the change is aware that the information was received.
4. Scheduling Inspections
Scheduling inspections requires balancing the availability of our inspectors and
keeping construction projects on schedule. Our literature should state; "provide at
least 2 to 3 days' notice for inspection requests." Sometimes people forget or do not
realize the statement was included with their permit documents. If an inspection is
requested with less lead time, remind the caller that 2 to 3 days is most often
needed to ensure quality service for everyone. Try to resist scheduling with shorter
notice while still being as accommodating as possible. Emergency situations are to
be determined on a case by case basis.
5. Re -inspections Fees
To maintain quality service for our customers while monitoring resources, no more
than one reinspection is allowed per permit/trade without the potential of incurring
additional fees. After one reinspection has been provided, remind the applicant that
each additional reinspection is subject to this provision. This amount should be
confirmed by the fee schedule to ensure it is aligned with the actual time needed for
the administration of additional services (this includes both field time and office staff)
6. Permit Extension Request
The building official (or designee)shall grant, in writing, extensions of time, for
periods not more than 180 days each if the applicant demonstrates justifiable cause.
This request is to be in writing from the applicant.
Operations Manual 2024 Page 4 of 10
