<br />Mayor Kuzma apologized to Ms. Schumacher that they have been going through this and noted <br />that it is unacceptable how this has been handled. He said they have directed Staff to do whatever <br />the City can do to help get this situation remedied. He added that the Council was only informed <br />of this situation recently and did not even know the depths of how bad it was. <br /> <br />Councilmember Specht shared that he would continue to reach out to different Anoka County <br />Commissioners to have them put pressure on this situation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Howell said they will try to emphasize this as a biohazard issue. <br /> <br />John Kidd, owner of both 6225 and 6237 Rivlyn Avenue, came forward and shared that 6225 <br />Rivlyn is a rental property that is currently occupied. He thanked the Council for their time <br />listening to the residents on this matter. He noted the job of a Councilmember is not an easy job. <br />He shared that there was an engineer from the City on property at some point, yet the information <br />was not shared throughout the rest of the Staff and Council. He explained that he is having to <br />displace his renters in order to get the house cleaned. He said he does not have a process with this <br />and there has not been any progress made working with Ames. He shared that when ServiceMaster <br />came out, they wanted his signature, to which he told them that if Ames was the one who ordered <br />them to come out then Ames can sign for it. He noted that all of the homeowners are waiting for <br />this surface testing that Ames is insisting, yet it has not happened. He added that ServiceMaster <br />has had a dehumidifier in his home for five or six days running. He shared that he hopes having <br />the Council on board putting pressure on the situation that they will begin to see some results and <br />a resolution. He asked the Council to advocate for them through this process and create a sense of <br />urgency to get this resolved. He thanked the Council for their willingness to help. He said he needs <br />to know who is going to pay for his displaced renters and he would also like to know who to <br />contact to send bills to. <br /> <br />Councilmember Musgrove asked if there are any services that the County can provide to help with <br />this, such as an environmentalist who can come do some of the safety testing. <br /> <br />City Administrator Hagen said he is not sure; however, he and Staff will be looking to the County <br />to get them to help in any way that they can while also putting pressure on Ames to rectify the <br />situation. He added that they will share the link to this meeting with County officials. <br /> <br />Councilmember Specht encouraged other Councilmembers to contact County and State officials <br />to put pressure on this situation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Woestehoff thanked all the residents for coming forward this evening. He <br />acknowledged that it was likely very difficult for the homeowners to relive this nightmare. <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson also thanked the residents for coming forward and for their patience and <br />understanding with the Council not being informed of this right away. He asked the residents to <br />trust that the Council will keep this top of mind and work to get a resolution. <br />4.
