I <br /> I ~ Councilmetuber Petcrson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION ~93-06-112 <br /> I RESOLUT~OI~ SUPPORTING NATIONAL RECREATION TRAIL FUNDING <br /> REQUEST~OR THE LAKE ITASCA TRAIL <br /> I WI'I~REAS, in 1991 the City Council passed upon the Comprehensive Parks and Open <br /> Space Plan; ahd <br /> <br /> WIffiREAS, a primary component of the plan is an interconnecting system of trails, <br /> bikeways Md w~lkways connecting industrial, commercial, residential, recreational and public use <br /> areas of the c~mmunity as well as those of neighboring communities; and <br /> I WIt~REA$, within the bikeway/walkway trail system plan is identified a major <br /> community ~ ~source known as the Lake Itasca Trail; and <br /> I WI-I ~!~[R~A$, within the 1993 - 1998 City Capital Improvements Plan. the Council has <br /> allocated si~cant resources toward development of the trail system; and <br /> <br /> I current planned development traverses a Department <br /> WitERE~S, <br /> Minnesota <br /> of <br /> Natural <br /> Resources pr0~ tected waterway known as Trott Brook including its surrounding shoreland; and <br /> <br />I WIt~!IE~S, projected funding resources do not allow for a fully accessible trail across <br /> the waterwa¥~area to persons with physical disabilities. <br /> NOW Ta .iE ORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY T}IE crrY COUNCIL OF I-IE CITY <br />lO OF RAMSI~Y,~ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows. <br /> <br /> 1) That the completion of the Lake Itasca Trail is the primary park and recreation development <br /> Ithe';1993 - 1998 Capital Improvements Program. <br /> with~ <br /> 2) That;~e P~'k and Recreation Commission and City Council policy is to ensure that all park <br /> I and r~ealio~ developments are disability sensitive. <br /> 3) That:;$taff is directed to request funding in the amount of $12,375 from the National <br /> Recr, Stion Trails Trust Fund as a match to additional City funds in order to ensure that this <br /> I Lake Itasca Trailway is disability sensitive. <br /> <br /> The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mayor Gilber~son <br /> I and upon vo~being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> MaY0r~ Gilbertson <br /> I CounLqlmember Peterson <br /> Court. ember Beyer <br /> Com~ ~tnber Zimmerman <br /> I a <br /> nd the follow!rtl g Voted against the same: <br /> <br /> I and the followlng abstained: <br /> <br /> <br />
