Councilmeniber Peterson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #94-09-178 <br /> <br />RESOLUTflON IMPLEMENTING POLICIES ADOPTED BY THE ANOKA <br />COUNTY !INTEGRATED SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT COORDINATING <br />BOARD AND DECLARING SOLID WASTE RECYCLING GOAL FOR <br />MUNICIPAL OWNED AND OPERATED FACILITIES <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey acknowledges the benefit to the City of Ramsey, its <br />citizens, the public health and the environment resulting from the Anoka County Integrated Solid <br />Waste Management System; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature has established a hierarchy of preferred waste <br />manag_e, ment practices, set forth in Minnesota Statute 115A.02 and incorporated into Anoka <br />County s Sol,id Waste Management Master Plan, encouraging waste reduction and recycling as the <br />highest priority for the State with the goal of abating the use of landfills; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Legislature has required in Minnesota Statute 473.848 that all waste <br />generated in the Metropolitan Area be processed to further abate landfills; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey wishes to promote the goals of waste reduction, <br />recy. cling and landfill abatement in order to protect its citizens, the public health and the <br />environment. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the City of Ramsey agrees to use its best efforts to recycle 50 percent of the waste <br />generated on its tax-exempt properties and to reduce the amount and toxicity of the waste it <br />generates by implementing policies adopted by the Solid Waste Management Coordinating <br />Board on October 28, 1992. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Hardin upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gilbertson <br />Coun¢ilmember Peterson <br />Couneilmember Hardin <br />Councilmember Beyer <br />Coundlmember Zimmerman <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br /> <br />
