ORDINANCE #06° <br /> <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 9 WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE ZONING AND <br />SUBDIVISION OF LAND CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, <br />MINNESOTA. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9.24 (TREE PRESERVATION) OF THE <br />CITY CODE. <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey ordains: <br /> <br />SECTION 1 AUTHORITY <br /> <br />This ordinance is adopted pursuant to and under the authority of"the charter oft. he City of <br />Ramsey. <br /> <br />SECTON 2 AMENDMENTS <br /> <br />Section 9.24.01 (General Provisions) Subd. 3 (Intent) shall be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Subd. 3. Intent. The intent of the Tree Ordinance is to provide regulations relating to the <br />removal of trees to promote the orderly development of such areas and thereby minimizing <br />public and private losses. Furthermore, the Tree Ordinance will establish and maintain <br />appropriate levels of diversity among tree species and age classes to provide a stable and <br />sustainable community forest. The City Council finds that the following objectives are important <br />in achieving these goals: <br /> <br />a4 <br /> <br />To continue to seek recognition as a Tree City USA and to take all <br />reasonable steps to promote planting and conservation of trees throughout <br />Ramsey; <br /> <br />To promote good design in new areas and provide sensitive and <br />compatible infill development in existing commercial areas; <br /> <br />To control epidemic tree diseases and insect infestations which threaten <br />the health of trees in the community; <br /> <br />do <br /> <br />To provide regulations that ensure the placement of trees along the street <br />right-of-way for the purpose of protecting against excessive noise, heat, <br />and glare, and to enhance the attractiveness and value of property; <br /> <br />eo <br /> <br />To ensure that landscaping is an integral part of development, not an <br />afterthought; <br /> <br />141 <br /> <br /> <br />
