Councilmember Peterson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION g96-06-155 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING WOMEN OF TODAY FOUNDERS DAY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Minnesota Women of Today and the Ramsey Women of Today have <br />set aside July 1 to recognize the many community activities of dedicated Women of Today across <br />the State; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Minnesota Women of Today is an organization of over 2500 young <br />people in over 150 communities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Minnesota Women of Today and the Ramsey Women of Today are <br />dedicated to actively promoting such public awareness and service programs as People with <br />Developmental Challenges, March of Dimes, and Lupus Foundation; as well as local projects such <br />as the Run, Yell and Tell Program in conjunction with Missing Children of Minnesota, Adopt-A- <br />Highway, Adopt-A-Family, Toys for Joy, Kid Care ID in conjunction with the Ramsey Policy <br />Department, Ramsey Community Picnic in conjunction with the Ramsey Lions, Becky Weiss Bike <br />Road-eo in conjunction with the Ramsey Police Department and the Becky Weiss Family, <br />Children's Essay Contest, Easter Egg Hunt/Bunny Brunch in conjunction with the Anoka Women <br />of Today, Halloween Spooktacular in conjunction with Anoka Women of Today, Four-Mile <br />Walk/Run benefitting the Ramsey Elementary School playground; and the Community Ice Cream <br />Social; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Minnesota Women of Today and the Ramsey Women of Today <br />provide personal enrichment and leadership training for young people; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Women of Today believe that "Through us Great Lessons Can Be <br />Learned, Worthy Deeds Performed, and a Hand of Fellowship Extended to Millions of Women <br />Everywhere". <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the City of Ramsey hereby proclaims July 1, 1996 to be Minnesota Women of Today <br />Founders Day in Ramsey. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Counc'flrnember <br />Zimmerman and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof.' <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin <br />Councilmember Peterson <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br />Councilmember Beyer <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Beahen <br /> <br /> <br />
