Councilmember Beahen introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #96-07-174 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING BUDGET AMENDMENT ALLOCATING $2900 FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCY FOR THE PURCHASE OF POLICE DEPARTMENT RECORDS MANAGEMENT SERVICES WHEREAS, the Police Department is required to retain certain records but has not purged any records since 1976; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Police Department to purge and organize its records before moving to its new building in late 1996; and WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the total cost of professional assistance, provided by Beverly Swanson, in purging records, developing a records retention schedule specific to the department, and designing and implementing a filing system, will be approximately $2900; and WHEREAS, no funding was provided for in the Adopted 1996 General Fund Operating Budget for such services; and WHEREAS, the City Council has the ability to provide funding for this purchase through a re-allocation of the Council Contingency within the Adopted 1996 Operating Budget. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes a budget amendment allocating $2900 from the Council Contingency Fund for the purchase of Police Department records management services. 2) That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the mayor and city administrator to enter into a contract with Beverly Swanson to provide Police Department records management services. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Beyer upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Councilmember Beahen Councilmember Beyer Councilmember Peterson Councilmember Zimmerman and the following voted against the same: None and the following abstained: None and the following were absent: Mayor Hardin
