Councilmember Beyer introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #97-04-072 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT <br />OF $20,000 FROM THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the National Park Service has entered into a cooperative agreement with the <br />Metropolitan Council to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments for <br />implementation of the MNRRA Comprehensive Management Plan and has authorized the <br />Metropolitan Council to provide funding assistance to local governments for the review and <br />assessment of Critical Area and all other relevant local plans, ordinances and enforcement <br />systems to determine if they conform to the MNRRA plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the work plan submitted by the City of Ramsey has been approved by the <br />National Park Service; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the National Park Service has approved an award of $20,000 to the City of <br />Ramsey to assist in the implementation of the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area <br />(MNRRA) Comprehensive Management Plan. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the City Council hereby authorizes the City Administrator to accept the MNRRA <br />grant in the amount of $20,000 from the National Park Service. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />That the City of Ramsey will provide at least a 50% match for the project costs and will <br />use the MNRRA funding assistance to review and assess existing plans and ordinances in <br />order to determine how to update such plans and ordinances for compliance with state <br />law and/or voluntary conformance with the MNRRA Comprehensive Management Plan. <br /> <br />3) That the City Council hereby authorizes the City Administrator to work with the <br /> Metropolitan Council to draft a funding agreement. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Haas Steffen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Beyer <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Beahen <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br /> <br /> <br />
