Councilmember Beyer introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #97-04-083 RESOLUTION REQUESTING ANOKA COUNTY PARKS DEPARTMENT PREPARE A FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE INCLUSION OF AN ARBORETUM AND CONSERVATORY WITHIN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MISSISSIPPI WEST REGIONAL PARK WHEREAS, the County of Anoka acquired land for park development within the City of Ramsey, known as Mississippi West Regional Park; and WHEREAS, both Anoka County's concept plan approved by Metropolitan Council, and the resource analysis performed by the University of Minnesota in 1995 recommend an arboretum be included in the park's development; and WHEREAS, development of an arboretum and conservatory at the 273 acre park will have a positive impact on the Metropolitan Area, including Anoka County and the City of Ramsey. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That Anoka County Parks is hereby requested to seek the University of Minnesota's assistance or other means to identify the pros and cons of developing Mississippi West Regional Park to include a significant arboretum and/or conservatory feature. 2) That such a feature, properly developed, is consistent with the long-term health and welfare of Ramsey residents. 3) That when said analysis is completed, the study will be made available to the City, and if Anoka County Parks does not intend to initiate the study, that Ramsey City Council and the City of Ramsey Park and Recreation Commission will be duly notified. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Beahen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gamec Councilmember Beyer Councilmember Beahen Councilmember Haas Steffen Councilmember Zimmerman
