Councilmember Beyer introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #97-04-083 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING ANOKA COUNTY PARKS DEPARTMENT PREPARE <br />A FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE INCLUSION OF AN ARBORETUM AND <br />CONSERVATORY WITHIN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MISSISSIPPI WEST <br />REGIONAL PARK <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Anoka acquired land for park development within the City of <br />Ramsey, known as Mississippi West Regional Park; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, both Anoka County's concept plan approved by Metropolitan Council, and <br />the resource analysis performed by the University of Minnesota in 1995 recommend an <br />arboretum be included in the park's development; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, development of an arboretum and conservatory at the 273 acre park will <br />have a positive impact on the Metropolitan Area, including Anoka County and the City of <br />Ramsey. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That Anoka County Parks is hereby requested to seek the University of Minnesota's <br />assistance or other means to identify the pros and cons of developing Mississippi West <br />Regional Park to include a significant arboretum and/or conservatory feature. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />That such a feature, properly developed, is consistent with the long-term health and <br />welfare of Ramsey residents. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />That when said analysis is completed, the study will be made available to the City, and if <br />Anoka County Parks does not intend to initiate the study, that Ramsey City Council and <br />the City of Ramsey Park and Recreation Commission will be duly notified. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Beahen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Beyer <br />Councilmember Beahen <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br /> <br /> <br />
