Councilmember Haas Steffen introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #97-05-143 RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE INSTALLATION OF PARK SHELTERS AT RIVERS BEND AND EMERALD POND PARKS WHEREAS, included in the adopted park project budgets for Rivers Bend and Emerald Pond Parks was funding for the construction of shelters, and WHEREAS, the City Council, at their April 22, 1997 meeting, authorized the advertisement for bids for the purchase and installation of the two park shelters, and WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota bid law, bids were advertised and the following bids received: Cedar Two Shelters Shingles Cupola Total Bid St. Croix Recreation $40,105 $5,595 $1,390 $47,090 Flanagan Sales $43,732 $7,110 $3,038 $53,880 E.F. Anderson $48,420 $8,300 $2,800 $59,520 AND WHEREAS, the bids were opened and reviewed on May 14, 1997, and WHEREAS, St. Croix Recreation was the low bidder for the two park shelters with cedar shingles and cupolas, and WHEREAS, St. Croix Recreation also included an alternate for weather vanes on each of the two shelters at a cost of $350 each, and WHEREAS, bidders were notified of liquidated damages or $20 per day [$10 per shelter] if construction is not completed by the date specified on the bid forms, and WHEREAS, St. Croix has indicated that installation will be completed no later than August 5, 1997. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the purchase of two park shelters with cedar shingles, cupolas and weather vanes from St. Croix Recreation for a cost not-to- exceed $47,790.
