Councilmember Beyer introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #97-06-153 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPOINTMENT OF JAMES WAY AND <br />ROBERT KUHN TO SERGEANT POSITIONS IN THE RAMSEY POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />WHEREAS~ there exist in the Ramsey Police Department two vacant Sergeant positions; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the vacancies were posted internally for a period of two weeks and two <br />applications were received; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, both applicants successfully completed a written examination and oral <br />interview. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That James Way be appointed to a Sergeant position in the Ramsey Police Department, <br />effective July 1, 1997, at an annual salary of $51,000 and a six-month probationary <br />period. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />That Robert Kuhn be appointed to a Sergeant position in the Ramsey Police Department, <br />effective July 1, 1997, at an annual salary of $51,000 and a six-month probationary <br />period. <br /> <br />3) That James Way is designated Acting Police Chief in the absence of the Police Chief. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Beahen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Beyer <br />Councilmember Beahen <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br /> <br />
