Councilmember Beahen introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> RESOLUTION #98-06-139 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF SEMI-AUTOMATIC POLICE <br /> SHOTGUNS FROM DRUG FORFEITURE FUNDS <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department retains a certain percentage of funds <br /> pertaining to drug confiscations. <br /> WHEREAS, these funds are to be used exclusively for the purchase of public safety <br /> equipment. <br /> WHEREAS, Ramsey Police Department would like to use these funds to purchase five <br /> semi-automatic shotguns. <br /> WHEREAS,these higher caliber shotguns offer increased safety to the general public and <br /> the police officers in that the guns are designed to reduce ricocheting bullets. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> 1) That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the purchase of five semi-automatic <br /> shotguns in the amount of$5,500 ($1,100 each) to be paid for with drug forfeiture funds. <br /> The motion for the adoption of the foregoing findings of fact was duly seconded by <br /> Councilmember Beyer, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> Mayor Gamec <br /> Councilmember Beahen <br /> Councilmember Beyer <br /> Councilmember Haas Steffen <br /> Councilmember Zimmerman <br /> and the following voted against the same: <br /> None <br /> and the following abstained: <br /> None <br /> and the following were absent: <br /> None <br />
