Councilmember Zimmerman introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #98-08-171 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE 1998 <br />STREET MAINTENANCE PROGRAM - DIVISION C - BITUMINOUS OVERLAY <br />(IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS #98-08 THROUGH #98-12) <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Resolutions #98-05-083 through #98-05-087 were adopted by Ramsey City <br />Council on May 12, 1998, authorizing the preparation of plans and specifications for the above <br />referenced work; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Resolutions #98-06-120 through #98-06-124 were adopted by Ramsey City <br />Council on June 9, 1998, approving the plans and specifications and authorizing the <br />advertisement for bids for the above-referenced work; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the 1998 Street Maintenance <br />Program, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law on July 8, 1998; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the following quotes were received for Division C - Bituminous Overlay: <br /> <br />Bidder Amount of Bid <br /> <br />Hardrives, Inc. <br />North Valley, Inc. <br />W. B. Miller, Inc. <br />Midwest Asphalt Corporation <br /> <br />$365,308.15 <br /> 346,851.89 <br /> 326,593.03 <br /> 371,164.55 <br /> <br />Engineer's Estimate <br /> <br />321,537.90 <br /> <br />AND WHEREAS, it appears that W. B. Miller, Inc. is the lowest responsible bidder. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a <br />contract with W. B. Miller, Inc. in the name of the City of Ramsey for the 1998 Street <br />Maintenance Program - Division C - Bituminous Overlay (Improvement Projects #98-08 <br />through #98-12) in the amount of $326,593.03. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />That the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders <br />the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the <br />next to lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed. <br /> <br /> <br />
