Councilmember Beahen introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #98-11-273 RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #98-21 (SECTION 28 SEWER AND WATER EXTENSION) WHEREAS, on October 13, 1998, City Council adopted Resolution #98-10-245 authorizing the preparation of plans and specifications for the above referenced work; and WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the Section 28 sewer and water extension, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law on November 6, 1998; and WHEREAS, the following quotes were received: Bidder Amount of Bid Kuechle Underground, Inc. Ryan Contracting, Inc. C.W. Houle, Inc. S.J. Louis Construction, Inc. $340,778.65 $382,184.25 $384,841.85 $390,454.15 $392,367.31 $394,675.33 $400,841.50 $421,996.25 $423,261.70 $439,279.55 $456,287.75 $458,884.10 Engineer's Estimate $387,629.50 AND WHEREAS, it appears that Kuechle Underground, Inc. is the lowest responsible bidder. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1) That the Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Kuechle Underground, Inc. in the name of the City of Ramsey for the Section 28 sewer and water extension in the amount of $340,778.65. 2) That the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the next to lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed. 3) The award of this contract is contingent upon receipt of agency approvals and the City obtaining the necessary temporary easement rights-of-entry.
