Councilmember Haas Steffen introduced the following resolution and moved for its <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #98-11-289 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF A TRAFFIC SAFETY <br />AWARD <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey desired to guard the safety of the citizens by <br />improving traffic safety and participating in the Safe & Sober Challenge; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, under the provision of the Highway Safety Act (P.L. 89-563), the <br />Minnesota Department of Public Safety has federal funding to promote traffic safety; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety had judged the City of <br />Ramsey's efforts to decrease impaired driving and increase seat belt use to be <br />exceptional, and wants to reward those efforts. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the City of Ramsey enter into an agreement with the Minnesota Department <br />of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety for the Safe & Sober Challenge during <br />the period from December 1, 1998, to June 30, 1999. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />That the City Administrator and the Mayor of the City of Ramsey is hereby <br />authorized to execute such agreements as are necessary to implement the project <br />on behalf of the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />That the Police Chief of the City of Ramsey is hereby authorized to be the fiscal <br />agent and administer the grant on behalf of the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilmember Beahen and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor <br />thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Beahen <br />Councilmember Beyer <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Resolution #98-11-289 <br /> Page 1 <br /> <br /> <br />
