Councilmember Anderson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #99-02-037 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION CONCERNING OFFER OF LAND TO THE MINNESOTA STATE <br />COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES BOARD FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW <br />TECHNICAL COLLEGE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey has adequate land available in Section 28 in the city of <br />Ramsey for construction of a new technical college; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a new technical college could be better planned with the greatest amount of <br />flexibility and would include room for a commuter rail station, park and ride, multiple housing, <br />and commercial business; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, additional land would be available for future expansion needs of the <br />technical college; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, construction costs for the new technical college would be considerably less <br />due to the proposed open space; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed site would be in the proximity of future industrial growth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, educational programs would be allowed to continue throughout the <br />construction rather than the inconvenience of a phased-in construction program; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed technical college site would provide an opportunity to offer an <br />expanded high school instructional program with the larger campus. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the City Council hereby offers to the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board <br />(MnSCU) a parcel of land approximately 40 acres in size for and in consideration of <br />MnSCU siting of a new technical college on the parcel. The parcel of land is to be located <br />within the East Half of Section 28, Township 32, Range 25, lying south of County Road <br />#116, in the City ofRamsey, Anoka County, Minnesota. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Haas Steffen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Anderson <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br /> <br /> <br />
