Councilmember Anderson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #99-05-091 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF FORFEITED 1998 FORD <br />PICKUP AND THE TRANSFER OF $14,000 FROM PUBLIC WORKS TO FIRE <br />DEPARMENT'S 1999 BUDGET TO PAY OFF LIEN AMOUNT AND ACQUIRE SAID <br />VEHICLE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department seized a 1998 Ford 4x4 pickup in <br />September 1998 pertaining to a DUI arrest; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Anoka County District Court ordered said vehicle as subject to forfeiture by <br />the City and the vehicle owner waived his right to appeal the order; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a $14,000 lien remains on the vehicle, which the City would be required to <br />pay to US Bank Corp to retain the vehicle and place it in the City's inventory; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Fire Department is in need of a staff vehicle; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 1999 capital budget of the Public Works Department has sufficient <br />funds to cover the cost of acquiring said vehicle; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a transfer from the Public Works 1999 budgeted capital line item in the <br />amount of $14,000 could be transferred to the 1999 budget of the Fire Department to pay off the <br />outstanding lien. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the City to pay off the outstanding lien of <br />$14,000 and obtain title to a 1998 Ford 4x4 that was acquired by forfeiture, and allow the <br />transfer of $14,000 from the 1999 budget of the Public Works Department to the 1999 budget of <br />the Fire Department to fund said vehicle. <br /> <br />The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Hendriksen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Anderson <br />Councihnember Hendriksen <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br /> <br /> <br />
