Councilmember Hendriksen introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #99-12-228 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF A PLAY STRUCTURE AND <br />DECLARING EXISTING PLAY EQUIPMENT SURPLUS PROPERTY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the play structure at Central Park has been found to no longer meet <br />Consumer Product Safety Commission guidelines for playground safety; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Park and Recreation Commission and City Council have approved <br />upon the play equipment's replacement within the 1999 Capital Improvements Plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City requested statements of qualifications from play equipment <br />vendors and on April 27, 1999, designated St. Croix Recreation of Stillwater as the play <br />equipment vendor for the Central Park project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the monies for the play equipment's purchase are available in the form of <br />$20,000 from the General Fund, $4,000 from the Commission's Lawful Gambling Improvement <br />Program and $27,533 from the gas pipeline park easement purchase; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on December 9, 1999, the Park and Recreation Commission approved <br />upon a play structure design for 51,000, which included construction supervision and <br />organization, freight and delivery, tax, and all other expenses; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, also on December 9, 1999, the Commission further recommended that City <br />Council declare the existing play equipment at Central Park surplus property and offer it via <br />sealed bids for either cash or in lieu of new play equipment installation by volunteers. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the City Council hereby declares the play equipment at Ramsey Central Park surplus <br />property for public bid and authorizes staff to order and purchase the new play equipment <br />detailed in the December 8, 1999, submittal from St. Croix Recreation. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Zimmerman, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Hendriksen <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br />Councilmember Anderson <br />Councilmember Connolly <br /> <br /> <br />
