CC Work Session 2. 2.
Meeting Date: 09/10/2024
Information
Title:
Discuss Polling Locations
Purpose/Background:
Background: The most recent changes to polling locations are as follows: In 2022,the City made two changes.
The first was adding a ninth precinct, W3P3,to accommodate the additional congressional district following the
statewide redistricting. The second change was moving W3P2 from Fire#1 to the Public Works Facility. Also,
many residents had changes to their precincts in 2022 due to redistricting when the lines were adjusted to even out
each ward based on the 2020 census. In 2024, two more changes were made. These included moving W4P 1 from
Fire#2 to Ramsey Elementary. The second change was moving W2P2 from Independent Baptist Church to Fire
#1.
Staff would like to make one polling location change for 2025. Currently, the W2P 1 polling location is the
Central Park Building. The building is by far the smallest out of all the City's polling locations, and it doesn't offer
adequate kitchen amenities or breakroom space for election judges who are there for upwards of 15 hours. We
would propose changing W2P 1 from Central Park to the new St Katherine's Drexel Church at 763 3 161 st Ave
NW. The building is proposed to be completed by late December/early January 2025.
Staff will review recent voter counts from the two previous elections held this year and the 2020 presidential
election as well as provide additional information on what is involved when polling locations get added.
Timeframe:
Approximately 15 minutes
Funding Source:
N/A
Responsible Party(ies):
City Clerk
Outcome:
To receive direction from the Council with regard to adding or changing polling locations for 2025.
Attachments
November 2020 General Election Statistics
November 2022 General Election Statistics
August 2024 Primary Election Statistics
Paper Pollbook Resolution example
Precinct Resolution Example
ACEIT PowerPoint
Current Elections JPA
