5. 7. <br /> CC Regular Session <br /> Meeting Date: 03/26/2024 <br /> PrimaryStrategic Plan Initiative: Identify and implement operational efficiencies,cost savings and additional <br /> g funding sources. <br /> Information <br /> Title <br /> Adopt Resolution#24-082 Authorizing Purchase of Replacement Rescue Truck <br /> Purpose/Background: <br /> The current 2024-2033 Capital Improvement plan shows the replacement of Rescue 11 -Unit#557,which is a <br /> 2000 Ford F450 Rescue Vehicle, in year 2025. It is being requested to purchase the replacement Rescue truck in <br /> 2024, due to significant cost savings by purchasing a 2024 vs a 2025 model year. <br /> Funding for the replacement of Unit#557 would be achieved by the following: <br /> The adopted 2024 General Fund budget included the replacement purchase of the 1994 Tanker at$600,000 <br /> funded by the 2023 Legislative Public Safety funds. The final purchase price of the Tanker is coming in at <br /> $372,000, or a savings of$228,000. The adopted 2024 General Fund budget also included the replacement <br /> purchase of the 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe which was also funded via the 2023 Legislative Public Safety funds. This <br /> vehicle replacement will not be available until 2025, and staff is requesting to push this purchase out, thus <br /> making it a capital request for the 2025 budget year. Lastly, in 2023 the city purchased a 2023 Rescue truck <br /> which resulted in the sale of the 2004 Rescue truck in January 2024 in the amount of$35,600. <br /> The total estimated cost to replace the 2000 Rescue truck with a 2024 model is $299,000. <br /> The 2024 Replacement Rescue Truck would be funded as such: <br /> Budget Savings from Tanker Purchase: $228)000 (2023 Legislature <br /> Public Safety Funds) <br /> Sale of Rescue Truck- $ 35,600 (held in fleet vehicle <br /> replacement Fund) <br /> Remove purchase of 2024 Tahoe from 2024 General Fund Budget : $45,000 (2023 Legislature <br /> Public Safety Funds) <br /> $308)600 <br /> The funds remaining: $9,600 ($308,600 - $299,000)would be retained in the Fleet Vehicle Fund. <br /> Funding Source: <br /> See funding outlined above. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Staff recommends adopting Resolution#24-082. <br /> Action: <br /> Adopt Resolution#24-082 authorizing the purchase of a replacement Rescue truck. <br /> Attachments <br /> Resolution#24-082 <br />
