Anoka County Blood Drives Open to Public -Add 1
During a power red donation, donors give a concentrated dose of red cells. This type of
donation uses an automated process that separates your red blood cells from the other blood
components, and then returns your plasma and platelets to you. Red cells from a power red
donation are typically given to trauma patients, newborns and emergency transfusions during birth,
people with sickle cell anemia, and anyone suffering blood loss. Ideal blood types for power red
donations are O positive, O negative, A negative, and B negative. Donation times take over an
hour. Donors can donate every 112 days, up to three times a year.
Visit www.redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment at a blood drive near you.
-30-
WB:tp
