6. 3. <br />CC Regular Session New <br />Meeting Date: 09/24/2024 <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Strive for high organizational morale and employee retention <br />Title <br />Authorization to Promote the Assistant Building Official to Building Official <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to seek City Council authorization to promote the current Assistant Building Official <br />to Building Official. <br />Earlier this evening during the work session, staff provided an overview of Building Division operations, <br />including details regarding a revised approach to the timeline for the Assistant Building Official / Building <br />Official role, utilizing Rum River Consultants (RRC) and other operational options. <br />The current staffing levels within the division include: a contracted Building Official, one full-time Assistant <br />Building Official, one full-time Building Inspector (soon to be vacant), a vacant (soon -to -be filled) full-time <br />Permit Technician II, a 20 hour per week Permit Technician I and a 28 hour per week Administrative Assistant. <br />Upon approval of this promotion, the Assistant Building Official role will be eliminated. <br />Since May, the contracted Building Official has worked closely with Mr. Thomas Knight, currently the Assistant <br />Building Official, for him to assume the full role of Delegated Building Official with the City. The original plan <br />was to continue with this model until approximately July 2025.
