CC Regular Session Meeting Date: 10/08/2024 Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Strive for high organizational morale and employee retention Title: Approve Amended Agreement for Building Official Services with Rum River Consultants Purpose/Background: As part of the unanticipated needs for the level of contract support work needed to meet permit review and inspection guidelines, staff believes two (2) full-time inspectors by Rum River Consultants for the remainder of 2024 will be neccessary while the city begins the hiring process to fill the two(2)vacant city inspector positions. The anticipated start date for new staff will be the first part of December. Inspection services for 2025 have been budgeted as part of the 2025 budget process. Notification: Not Applicable Time Frame/Observations/Alternatives: City Council could approve the amended agreement, approve changes, deny the agreement or something else. Funding Source: The Building Division has an adopted budget that does not account for the unanticipated needs for the level of contract support work needed to meet permit review and inspection guidelines for 2024. However, due to a continued high number of building permit submittals, it is reasonable to assume that the actual 2024 permit revenue will exceed what was budgeted. As part of the proposed 2025 budget, the professional service amount takes into account the anticipated consulting inspection services needed. Recommendation: Staff recommends approving the amended agreement which includes Exhibit A. *At time of packet publication the revised agreement was being reviewed. The packet will be updated prior to the Meeting. Outcome/Action: Approve the amended Agreement for Building Official Services, which includes Exhibit A.
