Council may, <br />however, establish'. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Commissioner Bauerkemper suggested phrasing be added to the effect that <br />all boards and commissions consist of no more than 9 Ramsey residents; <br />that monetary interest in Ramsey should not be a basis for serving on a <br />board or commission, only interest in quality of life. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Commissioner Sieber replied that businesses are the one' s responsible for <br />our quality of life and they deserve consideration because they absorb a <br />lot of the taxes. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Susan Beale - Stated that business owners are not restricted from attending <br />meetings or serving as an ex-officio as far as expertise. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Commissioner Gamec pointed out that these commissions and boards are advisory <br />only, they have no voting power. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Commissioner Bauerkemper stated that she has contacted 8 other cities and <br />a majority of those cities require board and commission members to be <br />residents of that city and a few of the cities make exceptions for their <br />Economic Development Commissions. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Commissioner Data was favorable to Commissioner Bauerkemper's suggestions. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Commissioner Greenberg stated that commissions act strictly in an advisory <br />capacity and therE: is no need to require rE:::o:dency. <br /> <br />CC/October 2/, l~co <br />Page 1: : F <br />
