' TO: All Governmental Agencies FROM: Anoka County Recorder RE: Increase in Recorder /Registrar of Titles Fees e As you are doubtless aware, all governmental agencies ere now subject to filing or recording fees in the Recorder /Registrar of Titles office. MN 553D3 Telephone: 6124214760 PRESS RELEASE: Effective August 1, 1985, most of the filing and recording fees in the office of the ' county recorder in Minnesota will be increased. There has not been an increase since 1980. ' The Minnesota Legislature has the authority to make adjustments to these fees. At the request of the majority of the members of the Minnesota Association of County Recorders, ' and with the support of the Association of Minnesota Counties, the Legislature enacted Chapter 281 which provides for this increase. ' This Increase was made because county government has had to tighten its belt. New equipment- modernization - employees - all -cost money. These fees are considered 'user fees" and will reduce the burden of the taxpayer not using the services provided by the office of the county recorder. Another provision of Chapter 281 provides that on August 1, 1985, all governmental units ' shall pay filing and recording fees upon the submission of a statement of charges by the county recorder or registrar of titles to the state, its agency or to the benefited ' subdivision. Current law requires ■ filing fee only for state and federal liens.
