All of <br />the examined alternatives would require some traffic control <br />improvements to meet acceptable levels of service. <br /> <br />7.0 NOISE <br /> <br />Noise from construction equipment will exceed state noise <br />standards but this noise will be intermittent and of limited <br />duration. Traffic noise levels will be increased by less <br />than 2 decibels over levels expected if no development took <br />place on the project site. Traffic noise levels at the <br />receptor site are primarily influenced by traffic noise from <br />T.H. 10/169 and the proxi~ity of the receptor to this <br />highway noise source. <br /> <br />. . <br /> <br />8.0 GROUNDWATER <br /> <br /> Soils within the project area are generally suitable for <br />\ development but, due to high permeabilities, have <br />I limitations for septic systems. A number of design <br /> modifications can be included into the septic systems in <br /> this area to overcome most of these soil limitations. <br /> <br />A study done of groundwater within the Anoka Sand plain <br />found that residential land uses contributed less to <br />nitrate-nitrogen concentrations than agricultural lands. <br />Due to the likely presence of interbedded clays in the <br />subsoils of the project site (which may prevent downward <br />migration of nitrates from the surficial aquifer) and the <br />change of land use from agricultural (with about 50% <br />"natural" areas) to residential (with about 36% "natural" <br />areas) , the nitrate levels for groundwater at the project <br />site should remain within state standards. <br /> <br />I' <br />\ <br /> <br />Inputs from on-site systems would be less than 1 inch <br />year and should easily be assimilated into the aquifer. <br />to coarse sands on site, permeability should not <br />significantly impacted by development and groundwater <br />patterns should not be significantly disrupted. <br /> <br />Several comments addressed concern for the density of septic <br />systems in the project area, the permeable soils and the <br />effect this would have on groundwater conditions.
